DAY 1: BOGOTÁ

Reception by our staff at the El Dorado airport in Bogotá, private transfer to the hotel and accommodation.

Day 2: BOGOTÁ – CITY TOUR

Tour of the capital starting with the Cerro Monserrate, of historical importance. Follow your route heading to the historic center visiting the colonial neighborhood of La Candelaria and the square of Chorro de Quevedo, known as the point on which the city was founded. We will visit the Casa de La Moneda and the Botero Museum where we can appreciate the private collection of the great Master Fernando Botero, artist recognized worldwide for his particular artistic style. We will make a walking tour of the Plaza de Bolívar, with its Cathedral and government buildings such as the National Capitol, the Palace of Justice, the Liévano Palace, headquarters of the Mayor’s Office and finally the Casa de Nariño, the residence of the President of the Republic of Colombia and seat of government. Stroll along Carrera Septima, the most lively pedestrian street in Bogotá with street artists, shops and music. Guided visit to the famous Gold Museum, inside which is exhibited the largest sample of pre-Columbian objects in the country with around 34,000 pieces of gold and more than 25,000 objects created by hand by the Indians. Time in the Artisan Market where you can find thousands of typical Colombian craft souvenirs.

DAY 3: THE SALT  CATHEDRAL IN ZIPAQUIRÁ – VILLA DE LEYVA

This morning we’ll have breakfast in the hotel. We leave Bogota and drive northwards for about an hour and a half to Zipaquira, where we’ll visit the unique Salt Cathedral. This subterranean cathedral was carved out of the salt bedrock in an old salt mine. We will have a guided tour, following the carved stations of the cross to reach the main part of the cathedral, which has the capacity for over 8000 worshippers. Continuing onwards by road, we should arrive at the beautiful town of Villa de Leyva, colonial jewel declared national monument visit to the Plaza and Mayor and to the sites of tourist interest such as the liquor factory, the House of the First Congress, the Hot Street, ending the church of the Discalced Carmelites. Accommodation in Villa de Leyva.

DAY 4: VILLA DE LEYVA – RAQUIRA – BOGOTÁ

Departure from Villa de Leyva to Bogotá, free lunch during the tour, you will make a visit to the beautiful and colorful town of Ráquira, to know its goldsmiths recognized throughout the country and their houses painted with bright colors. Arrival to Bogota. Accommodation in the hotel

DAY 5: BOGOTÁ – POPAYÁN “CIUDAD BLANCA”

Transfer to the airport for departure by flight to Popayán. Arrival, transfer and hotel check-in.

San Juan de Pasto is recognized as the «Surprise City of Colombia» is famous for its imposing religious architecture of colonial and republican eras. DAY 8: «CUMBAL AND SANCTUARY OF NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LAS LAJAS»

This morning we’ll have breakfast in the hotel. Departure to Cumbal, municipality of the southern part of the department of Nariño, its name is of Mayan origin and its founder is the Cacique Cumbe, it is part of the Andean mountain range and borders Ecuador. You will visit the Laguna de la Bolsa located at the foot of the Cumbal volcano, at an altitude of 3,638 meters, a privileged place for ecological tourism. Lunch. Lake Guamuéz or La Cocha, is the largest in Colombia, declared as RAMSAR wetland, is home to an invaluable amount of animal and plant species; in its vicinity there are more than fifty nature reserves that seek the conservation of this ecosystem as well as the sustainable exploitation of the beauty of the place with the least impact on the delicate natural balance, we will visit some of these natural reserves and enjoy a very interesting guided tour of Bird watching. DAY 4: FILANDIA – VALLE DEL COCORA – SALENTO – PEREIRA

All day visit to a typical village of Filandia, famous for its “antioqueño” architecture, as well as for basket weaving, and to the Valle del Cocora. Located within the central mountain range, it is part of Los Nevados National Park, the ideal spot to admire the “palma de cera del Quindío”. Numerous bird species inhabit the área. The roads are lined with numerous “fincas” or farm houses built in typical coffee growing architecture. A short walk to see the palms. Continuation on a 10 km road to Salento, characterized by old and colorful houses that trace their origin to Colonial times. Visit of the countryside and transfer to Pereira. Overnight stay.

DAY 5: ARMENIA – COFFEE FARMING REGION

All day excursion through the coffee plantations. Visit to one of the area’s coffee producing farms to see the plantation and production system, including the harvest, sun drying and processing. return to the hotel and accommodation.

DAY 6: ARMENIA – MEDELLÍN – CITY TOUR

Meeting with the guide for the visit of Medellín,  second in importance in Colombia and an outstanding commercial and cultural center. Visit to the San Antonio park, known as La Plazoleta, that houses twenty or so Botero sculptures on its grounds, the Museo de Antioquia, Plazuela de San Ignacio, Parque de los Pies Descalzos, a park inspired in eastern philosophy with a small bamboo forest, Parque de los Deseos, the Edificio Inteligente, the Teatro Metropolitano, the Alpujarra, seat to the government offices, the municipality and the Gobernación de Antioquia, the Cisneros park or Parque de las Luces. DAY 7: MEDELLÍN – GUATAPÉ.

Take a day trip to the colourful village of Guatape. It is famous for the Penol Boulder, to 200 metre high monolith. Climb its steps and be rewarded with breath-taking views over the village and the surrounding lakes. You can enjoy a typical Colombian lunch on the waterfront and even take a boat across the reservoir. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.

DAY 8: MEDELLÍN – NUQUÍ

Departure from Medellín airport to Nuquí (45 minutes). Arrival and transfer to the dock for a boat trip to Ecolodge El Cantil. Check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 9: NUQUÍ

Morning walk to Cascada del Amor waterfall and a bath in the thermal waters or in the neighboring stream, which are in the middle of the jungle. Afternoon excursion in the jungle to discover the majestic flora and rich fauna. Overnight stay in lodge.

Continuation to the old town to visit the convent of San Pedro Claver and the artisan center in Las Bóvedas, passing by the main plazas, historical colonial homes, and museums, including the Plaza of Santo Domingo, Cathedral of Santa Catalina, Plaza Bolívar, the Inquisition Palace, and the Gold Museum.
